| For the 2012 camping season we welcome new manager/caretakers Kevin and Connie Nesbitt. They will assume duties officially on March 11, 2012. Ozark Camp plays host again this year to family reunions, church retreats and reunions, weddings, quilting retreats, summer camps including church groups, Camp Quality Ozarks and Camp Soroptimist. We have also been providing housing when possible for many of the disaster volunteers who have come to offer their time and talents to the rebuilding process in Joplin after the May, 2011 tornado. Our campground has been completely restored and rebuilt following the tornado damage we experienced in May, 2008. All cabins are updated, refurnished, and feature air conditioning and heating. Our swimming pool and picnic pavilions were completed during the summer of 2009, in addition to a new, modern men’s bath house. The Lodge is renovated with a brighter, more open and inviting indoor appearance. Over 150 trees have been newly planted in place of the many trees lost due to the storm. Opportunities for outdoor activities for all ages are everywhere, with jungle gym playgrounds for toddlers and a mammoth play set in the valley for bigger kids, volleyball courts, a basketball half-court, and a softball field. Two spring-fed streams run through the camp, keeping our pond full and providing a fast track for popular “duck races.” Our RV Park accommodates 21 vehicles with water, sewer, and electrical hookups. |
